Strathmore Blades II completed their rout of KU Pirates with a deserved 79-93 win in a high scoring game played at the Kasarani gymnasium on Saturday.

Pirates who were glaring a loss that would mean failure to join the classic premier could not salvage a win to force a tie and a game five decider.

A 9-25 lead at the end of the first quarter showed Blades’ intent of cornering Pirates for a third consecutive game in the five-game series. KU put up a spirited fight in the second quarter but that was not enough to cut Blades’ lead as they still stretched their control of the game by twenty three points courtesy of a 20-27 win in the second quarter.

The third quarter was fast and high scoring as both sides sought to trade points but KU’s errors in the first quarter cost them despite tying the quarter at twenty three ups, Blades still had a twenty three-point cushion that they carried onto the final quarter of the game that Pirates took control of winning 27-18 to cut Blades’ lead to 14 points.

Blades book a final slot against Equity Bank after this win. Blades’ Peter Shilton nailed 18 points while Pirates Robert Otieno replied with 17.
