Another KBF referee succumbs to injuries

The Kenya Basketball Fraternity has lost another referee in John Oduor who passed away on Tuesday followong last week’s accident at Makuyu.

Oduor was among the few survivors who were taken to the Kenyatta National Hospital after the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a canter in Makuyu along the Thika-Murang’a road. Nine people died on the spot including two other KBF referees Seif Luali and Vincent Kimuyu and one Handball referee.

Oduor was fighting for his life at the KNH ICU but lost the battle.

“We thank all those who came to help when we requested for urgent donation of blood. He was a young referee with a bright future and we deeply feel the loss.” Says Justus Akhwesa one of the KBF referees.

He adds that they will be holding a fundraiser in aid of the families of the departed.

“We will hold a fundraiser on the 21st of April at Nyayo Stadium, Call Room as from 12 noon. The funds will go to the families of the departed, and as we also pray for our referee Andrew Aballa who is at Nairobi west hospital ICU.”
