KCB’s Faridah Efumbi received her first call up to the senior national volleyball team while Kenya Pipeline sensational attacker Lucy Chege makes a return to the final list of twenty players named to join the national volleyball team camp.
The team was named by KVF on Sunday evening after the finals of the KVF memorial cup in Kisumu.Kenya Pipeline lifted the trophy after managing a 3-0 cruise past KCB in the finals.
The team is expected to commence non residential training on Tuesday at the Nyayo national stadium ahead of the forthcoming All African games and the African cup of nations women championship to be held in Nairobi in August.
An elated Farida could not hide her joy after receiving news of her maiden call up to the team. “I can’t explain my feelings, am overjoyed. The call up is one thing but I now have a huge task of working hard to ensure I maintain a constant position in the team. I Thank the coaches for showing the confidence in me.” She said.
But Efumbi will have to fight hard for the final two jersey slots against seasoned setters Janet Wanja and Jane Wacu who have also been called up to the team alongside Rose Magoi of Kenya Pipeline.
