Baylor University Sports team arrives in Nairobi

A team of 105 student athletes and medical Doctors from Baylor University in Waco Texas USA arrived in Nairobi on Monday night for a series of community development and sports programs in partnership with Michezoafrika.

The team of 45 sports men and 55 medical doctors will visit different community programs in Nairobi and Kisumu for the three weeks they will be in Kenya.

The Baylor team has been visiting Kenya each summer for the past five years and enjoys a solid partnership with michezoafrika.

“We are excited to extend the partnership and we welcome the team to Kenya once again. They have always been a blessing to our youth and sports development initiatives and we thank them for their continued support to Kenya.” Said michezoafrika’s Walter while welcoming the team to Nairobi.

Among the team members is Baylor Lady Bears Basketball team player Lindsay Palmer who has expressed her excitement upon her return to Nairobi for the third season in a row. Baylor Lady Bears are the American Colleges Basketball champions after ending the season unbeaten. Lindsay made the final winning point for her team during their final match.

 “I am looking forward to seeing old friends and making new friends. I love the Kenyan culture and being able to spend time with such joyful people. I am blessed to be returning and excited to be here.”

Lindsay was named the best student athlete at Baylor University this season.

The sports team is expected to conduct several sports clinics with different teams in soccer, basketball, volleyball and American football.

“We have several programs lined up that will involve several local teams and we are excited that this partnership will benefit many youths and sports teams locally. We look forward to an exciting season ahead.” Machio added.
